Imagine the sort of things that might make you feel insecure, or uneasy.

Children at play near danger,
A young woman meets a new man - anywhere,
A confrontation on a street at night;

If you are on your own - crying out, or otherwise raising an alarm does not show anyone else what might cause you to feel uneasy or insecure.
Who knows who kidnapped the child?
Who attacked the girl?
Or who threatened you in the street?

To provide the identity of a cause of insecurity requires an image; a photograph or video, and, most importantly, both knowledge of where the incident takes place and the means to tell someone elsewhere what is happening. That, in turn, requires a combination of technologies:

Image -so someone else could see your problem.
Navigation -so that they would know where you are.
Wireless Transmission -so that they would know immediately what you see and where you are.

Now, if you find yourself in an insecure situation, for the first time ever, by simply pressing a button, for example, you can contemplate that you will be able to take a picture of the problem and transmit that image elsewhere, the person receiving the image knows what you face, where you are and can communicate with you and also at the same time seek help.
There will be a wide variety of uses requiring different solutions and the potential for other applications at the personal level can be shown. For example, we consider a major market for sales will be small, PC based GPNS Home Base Stations that will permit a parent to monitor their child at play via a suitable integral designed handset that is "worn" in some way and which will send back home a regular location report with a picture of what they are up to.
